Christmas Vegetables

published by johnnydod on Dec 21, 2009

Well we are nearly there.

Now we are nearly there with the traditional Christmas dinner, kids moaning about the sprouts (I love them by the way) so why not this year try some different vegetables?

Chicory

Try it baked with a creamy white sauce

Fennel

Great as a side salad add watercress and pine nuts yummy

And as well as roasted honey parsnips and carrots try

Endives

Braised great with your Christmas fare.

Of course there are loads more to choose from Asparagus, Bamboo Shoots, Jerusalem Artichokes, Sweet potatoes loads of different beans Mung Beans,  Soybeans, Dwarf Beans,  Broad beans, Runner beans, and also Peas Mange tout, Lentils, I could go on and on.

I’m having roasted squash, cranberries, walnut and mango puff pastry parcels

But what ever you do cook this year enjoy your vegetables and a very merry Christmas to you all.

Didn’t know chicory was a vegetable. Thought it was something some folk put in coffee to make it taste awful.
