Classic Apple Crisp

published by Mary Pulk on Oct 7, 2009

This is a basic and easy recipe for classic apple crisp. Just like Mom used to make.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 c. thinly sliced apple
  • 1 tsp. vanilla (optional)
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. quick rolled oats
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp. butter

Method

Combine first 5 ingredients in medium bowl. Transfer to greased 8 inch square pan. In a small bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut small chunks of the butter into the flour until crumbly (pea sized crumbles is good). Sprinkle over apples. Bake 45 minutes in 350 degree oven.

*nuts and raisins make great additions to the apples mixture if you like them!
