Famous July Fourth Fruit Tart

Delicious and visually appealing fruit tart recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2c Flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1c shortening
  • 1/2c water
  • 3tbs. sugar
  • 2tbs. cornstarch
  • 1c frozen/fresh blueberries
  • 2c strawberries(sliced lengthwise)

Method

 Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. In a bowl mix together 2c flour and 1/2 tsp salt. Crumble 1c shortening into mix;slowly stir in 1/2c water. Knead and place in refrigerator. In a separate bowl mix 3tbs.sugar with 2tbs. cornstarch. Add 1c frozen or fresh blueberries with 2c strawberries, sliced in halves. Gently coat. Roll dough into a circle shape about the size of a plate onto a baking sheet. Drain fruit and pile onto the center of dough. Leave about 2 in. around the edges. Fold dough over fruit but leave some of the center uncovered. Bake until fruit glistens and crust is golden brown. (about 30 mins.) Let cool completely before cutting into slices and enjoy!
