Figs are an Old Fashiond and Nutritious Delight
Figs make a healthier snack than you might suppose.
There are many helpful benefits of figs (anjeer). Amongst them are the treatment of sexual weakness, constipation, indigestion, piles, diabetes and cough just to name a few. It also helps in the gaining of weight after an illness.
A seasonal fruit, figs are mostly found in Western Asia. Figs are a member of the mulberry family. There are many minerals and vitamins to be found in figs as well as a high content of fiber. Vitamins A, B1, B2, calcium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, sodium, potassium and chlorine are found in these relatively small fruits.
Since figs have 5 grams of fiber they prevent constipation. Such a high fiber content also helps in weight loss and figs are recommended for obese patients. The fiber in figs is Pectin which helps remove excessive cholesterol from the body. When figs are dried, they contain phenol, Omega-3 and Omega-6. These are fatty acids which help reduce the risk of coronary disease.

The high fiber content help flush the system, keeping it clean and preventing colon cancer. The fiber also helps prevent breast cancer. For diabetics, figs reduce the sugar count in the blood and thus help reduce the amount of insulin needed. The potassium in figs do the same.
Since high sodium intake lowers the potassium levels, causing hypertension, the high potassium content in figs are excellent to prevent high blood pressure. After soaking 2-3 figs overnight in a glass of milk. Eat these to inhance sexual strength.
Figs are high in Calcium which strengthens bones. If you eat a lot of salt, you’ll loose a lot of the calicum in the urine and figs stop that. Fruits and figs help improve the eyesight and fight macular degeneration. There is also a very high mucilage content in figs that help fight sore throats.
