Cucumber when eaten regularly has many nutritional benefits to the body and can help prevent some of the health diseases that a person may experience in his or her old age. Its benefits range from the beautification of our body to body cleansing and disease prevention.

Cucumber has the highest vitamin A content. Vitamin A is very important for the development of a healthy body tissue. It aids in building strong bones and teeth and helps the body in warding off infections. Vitamin A also works wonders for dry, rough and hard skin. Cucumber contains high amounts of water, also potassium, manganese and fiber. It is a great snack to those who want to lose weight as it is very low in calories. It is also beneficial in keeping the skin hydrated because of its water content. Regular eating of cucumbers helps get rid of body toxins and excess fluids.

Do you love to eat cucumber salad? It is best to include the hard cucumber skin when you make one. Cucumber’s hard skin is a good source of fiber, silica and other important minerals. Many people know that fiber helps flush out toxins from the body. Silica is an important trace mineral in the body for the growth of healthy nails, hair, bones and skin. It is a very important factor in getting a healthy, glowing and younger looking skin. Silica also helps strengthen the body’s connective tissues like the bone, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and the blood vessels. Deficiency in silica would result to wrinkled skin, dry and dull hair, and brittle nails and bones.  Silica is used by the body everyday and since there is a need to replenish it, it is advisable to eat cucumbers regularly.  Other sources of silica are apples, cereals, carrots, onions, honey, oats, almonds and many more.

Cucumber is also good in regulating high blood pressure. This powerful fruit contains magnesium, potassium and fiber. Eating cucumber regularly will help reduce one’s high blood pressure to healthier level. The enzyme erepsin contained by cucumber also helps digest protein properly.

Drinking cucumber juice with carrot juice is known to improve the condition of those with rheumatic conditions. Aside from this, its juice is also useful in helping those with disease of the gums and teeth.
