Making Kernels Pop

published by janet Trieschman on Dec 27, 2011

A simple tip to make more kernels pop when making popcorn.

You can make healthier popcorn yourself than the pre-packaged microwave packages that are full of chemicals. Popping popcorn in your microwave or air popper are a better alternative. If you would like to make popcorn with fewer un-popped kernels (often referred to as old maids), try soaking the kernels in water for ten minutes before you pop the kernels. Just drain the water and pop as you normally would. If you would like to pop corn in a microwave, place a half-cup of kernels into a paper bag, fold the bag shut and use the popcorn setting on your microwave. It pops just the same as the packaged popcorn but is much more healthy.
