Mama’s Kitchen

As I bask in the warmth of my favorite memories, I recall the wonderful fragrance of delicious desserts from mama’s kitchen. One of my favorites is her fruit cocktail surprise. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Ingredients

1 lg can fruit cocktail
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup of chopped nuts ( I like to use walnuts)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Grease and flour 8″ square pan

Drain the fruit cocktail very well

Combine with the remaining ingredients (except brown sugar and nuts)

Mix thoroughly until mixture is of batter consistency

Pour the mixture into the greased pan

Sprinkle brown sugar and nuts on top

Bake for 50 minutes.

Serve with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream
