Mummu’s Old Fashioned Cabbage Rolls
These Great For Dinner and Delicious and Different.
One large cabbage blanched, or parboiled. You can do this by placing cabbage in cold water in a large pot and bring to a boil. Make cuts at core and remove cabbage leaves and place them on a smooth surface.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a saucepan with 2 tbsp of olive oil, brown one 1lb of groundbeef and one small minced onion.
add 3/4 cup of uncooked barley.
add;
1/2 tsp of sage
1 tsp of fresh ground pepper
1/2 tsp of celery salt
stir together and 1/4 cup of the cabbage water.
The barley with still be hard when you place some on each leaf and roll it up about eight to ten leaves.
Place in a baking dish with a cover add one teaspoon of butter to each roll.
Bake at 375 for 40 minutes then 300 for 20minutes.
remove from oven and let stand for 15 minutes, some people add tomato sauce we just serve with ketchup.

Sounds delicious. My mom makes cabbage rolls we call stuffed cabbage that look like the picture you posted, but my mom uses ground beef and pork mixed together holds it together with eggs and adds rice. My great grandma used barley, but my grandma who taught my mom uses rice. This is a classic Polish dish. My mom always makes piles of them and gives four to my sister and freezes the rest and we have dinner for months. BUT I HAVE TO TRY YOUR RECIPE! It sounds scrumptious!
