Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer or Spinach with cottage cheese is a very north indian dish and is part of the menu at any time, be it lunch, dinner or a special party. Palak is a good source of iron.

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

Palak (spinach)                       3 large bunch chopped

Onions:                                   1 Large chopped

Paneer (cottage cheese)           250 grams (cut into cubes)

Green chillies:                         3 Medium size

Cream:                                     100 grams

Garlic:                                     6 cloves

Oil:                                          3 Table spoons

Salt:                                         1 Tea spoon

 

Method:

 

  1. Wash the chopped Palak (Spinach) and steam for 5 minutes or boil in water for 2 or 3 minutes. Let cool and drain the water, add green chillies, blend and keep away.
  2. Deep fry the Paneer (cottage cheese) and put it away in a bowl of hot water with a spoonful of salt.
  3. Heat Oil in a pan, add garlic and chopped onions and fry until light brown, add the blended palak (spinach) and cook on slow fire. Add the paneer and cook for 5 minutes and finally add the cream and cook for 2 minutes. Serve with chapattis or naan.
