Pavlova – a Dessert Worthy of Praise
Discusses what a pavlova is and how to make it.
It is fruity. It is crunchy and It’s fluffy. Sweet, Delectable and simply delicious, this desert is a must try for all. Pavlova is a famous dessert in Australia but named after the great Russian ballerina, Anna Pavlova http://quazen.com/arts/dance/anna-pavlovas-grace/. This dessert consists of a meringue shell topped with whipped cream and fruit. What makes pavlova a great dessert is the crispy shell outside and the soft, moist texture inside.
The recipe for pavlova is simple but making the dessert requires patience. Super fine sugar is gradually added to the egg whites while beating it to a stiff form to make a meringue. A small amount of cornstarch and vinegar is added towards the end. The meringue is then shaped into a round form, placed over a parchment paper on a cookie sheet and baked at 200 degree for about an hour. Once done, the meringue is cooled
down. Then, it is topped with whipped cream and fruit. The most popular fruit toppings are usually strawberries and kiwi. Pavlola is best served and eaten right away to enjoy its delectable taste.
In my first attempt of making a pavlova, I had turned the egg white mixture into a marshmallow crème consistency and therefore flunked. But, the second attempt proved to be successful.
Here is my take on pavlova- I hope I gave it justice.
