Tomato Chutney

A tasty side dish with tomatoes ideal for rotis, idlis or dosas.

TOMATO CHUTNEY

Ripe Sweet tomatoes 

Bengal Gram 2 to 3 teaspoons

Ginger piece (about an inch or two)

Green chilies 2 to 3 numbers

Curry leaves

Salt to taste

Half a lime

Coriander leaves

Chop the tomatoes into very fine pieces and fry them in a table spoon of refined oil in a pan. Add salt to taste.

Grind the rest of the ingredients (except the salt and lime) well without adding water. Mix this ground paste to the tomatoes in the pan and fry for a little while. Remove the pan from the stove. Now squeeze half a lime and garnish with coriander leaves.

This tasty chutney serves as a side dish to chappathis, rotis,idlis or dosas.

    I make this without ginger. Must try with ginger. Goes well with almost everything

    Thank you Chitra for your comments. Ginger is a good digestive agent. Some add garlic also, but I don\’t.
