Treat The Family to Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Vanilla pudding is simple and can be a key ingredient to many of delicious desserts. Treats like pops, cakes, trifles and tarts are especially welcoming with home made vanilla pudding. The rich, creamy sweetness is a great way to end the meal.

Homemade vanilla pudding can transform almost any dessert into a dream dessert. You can top pound cake with vanilla pudding and top with fruit, or you can make vanilla pudding popsicles. You can layer it with cake and fruit to make a trifle. You can even use is as a glue to hold cake layers together. There is no end of things you can do with vanilla pudding. A good recipe for good homemade vanilla pudding follows.

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Ingredients

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons corn starch

1 tablespoon good vanilla flavor

3 egg yolks

 2 cups whole milk

2 tablespoons butter cut up at room temperature

Method

Whish together cornstarch, sugar, salt and vanilla in a medium saucepan.

Whisk in egg yolks until mixed well.

Slowly pour in mild, whisking to incorporate.

Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thick, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove from heat, whish in butter one piece at a time.

Make sure each piece is incorporated before adding the next.

Cover top of pudding with plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Confectioners Sugar Frosting

Ingredients

Two cups confectioners confectioners

Dash of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla flavor

 Enough cream to make it the right consistency.

Method

Sift the  2 cups sugar. Add vanilla. And beat in the cream until smooth.

Spread frosting on the cake.

Jelly Frosting

Ingredients

1/2 cup any kind of jelly

1 unbeaten egg white

dash of salt

Method

Place all ingredients in the top of double boiler over boiling water.

beat with rotary beater for about 5 minutes until jelly disappears.

Take it off heat and keep beating until stiff peaks form.

Spread on cake.
