Bananas! What comes to mind when you hear that word? A tropical paradise? Yes, it is an exotic fruit but it has made its way into American homes to where it is found, just about , anywhere! It started making its way into the USA in the 19th century. In fact, in a recent survey, it was found that the banana is the number 1 fruit in the world (Link provided below). Why is this phenomenon growing?
First, the banana has health benefits. The potassium is designed to help relieve muscle aches and spasms. Second, it helps lower blood pressure. Third, it helps you with your digestion and can be a powerful aide when going on a diet! Many other wonders can be done with the banana.
You have a sweet tooth? Bananas can be used in desserts such as Banana Cream pie. In fact, it was so popular that it was the GI’s favorite food back in the 50’s! Clowns use Banana Cream pie for their acts. Tossing their pies at each other, they create laughs galores from their fans! How many of you remember the slapstick shorts in where there was a lot of pie throwing at people? In fact, my memory of that is THE THREE STOOGES! In my opinion, they were expert pie throwers!
On a more serious note, you can make banana bread, cookies or pudding. Once in a while, I, personally, like a good banana cream pie. It’s flavor, coupled with Vanilla wafers, add a heavenly taste that is equal to none. If you never tasted this awesome dessert, you owe it to yourself to try it.
