Yezhu Kari Kuzhambu

How to prepare yezhu kari kuzhambu?

Ingredients

Brinjal (egg plant) – 50 gms

Broad beans – 50 gms

cluster beans – 50 gms

Raw banana – 1

Drumstick – 1

red pumpkin – 50gms

Karramani -50gms

green chilli – 3

Ginger and Grlic paste – 1tsp

small onions – 50 gms

Gingelly oil – 3 tbspn

Mustard – 1/2tsp

Curry leaves – few

asafoetida – a pinch

Coriander powder – 4 tbsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Ground coconut paste – 5tbsp

salt to taste

Method

1) Heat oil in a kadai and splutter mustard seeds,asafoetida and curry leaves

2) Add small onions and green chillies and saute for a few seconds

3) Add ginger and garlic paste,turmeric powder and coriander powder and fry well

4) Cut the vegetables as cubes and strip as needed and add into the mixture,along with salt

5) Add two cups of water and cook the vegetables till done

6) Add ground coconut paste and cook well till done.Yezhu kari kuzhambu is now ready to be served with vennai pongal as accompaniment!

    I’ll have fun researching what some of these exotic sounding ingredients are! I’ve never heard of Karramani or Gingelly oil ! interesting!

    Hey hi!!!

    Karamani is black eyed peas in english..Gingelly oil is nothing but sesame oil which is derived from seasame seeds… :)
