How to Make Indian Yogurt Sweet Dish: Shrikhand
This is a very simple Indian sweet dish made out of yogurt, with cardamom seasoning and sugar.

The entire world knows that Indians probably sport the hugest sweet tooth of all. If you too want to try some, here you are; This dish is perfect because its too easy to be true and tastes out of this world. You might want to try it to believe me. Here are the ingredients, and trust me you wont even have to find an Asian store to get them!
Ingredients
- Yogurt – 2 Cups
- Sugar – Half or 3/4 cup depending on how sweet you want it to be
- Cardamom powder – 1 teaspoon ( even cardamom seeds may be used )
Method
The first thing you have to do is drain out all the water from the Yogurt by tying it up in a cloth and letting the water drip away. This should take about 4-6 hours. Once all the water has drained away, you should have a semi-solid cottage cheese type mass of yogurt. Now, add the sugar and cardamom powder to this mass and mix it well. You could use a whipper or even a simple spoon to just whip the mixture. Powdered sugar dissolves quicker, so you can use it instead of sugar grains too. Once, the mixture is whipped, put it in the fridge for an hour to two to chill it.
Traditionally it is served with hot Indian Paratha breads but you may even have it with toasted warm bread. It also tastes amazing on its own.
These instructions do not claim to be perfect, you may increase or decrease elements to get the perfect taste you like. Try it and let me know how it went.
You may even garnish with chopped dry fruits or add in mango pulp to make mango flavoured yogurt sweet dish. Experiment with it and you’ll be amazed at how much you can do with one dish!
