How to Make Sugar Rings
These tasty treats make a great snack. Try them yourself.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (250 g) of butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 teaspoons of grated lemon rind
- 2 teaspoons of grated orange rind
- 1 egg
- 3 cups of cake flour
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- confectioner’s sugar
Directions
- Cream together the butter, sugar and grated rinds until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and beat well.
- Sift together the flour and salt in a separate bowl and add to the creamed mixture. Chill for at least an hour.
- Sprinkle a board generously with confectioner’s sugar and roll out the dough to a thickness of ¼ inch (5 mm). Cut into strips about 4 inches x ½ inch (10 cm x 1 cm).
- Put on an ungreased cookie sheet joining the ends to form rings.
- Cook in a 400ºF (200ºC) oven for about ten minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen rings.
