Watermelon and Ice Cream
When women are pregnant, they often crave odd delicacies to devour. I was no exception.
When women are pregnant, they often crave odd delicacies to devour. I was no exception.
When carrying my first, I started eating foods I did like previously. And there were a few foods that I stopped eating that no longer tasted good. But what was neat about being pregnant was that food never tasted so good, nor has it since that time. Meal time was the highlight of the day.
We had several farm like fields behind our trailer. That year, they were rented to a watermelon grower. All the fields but one had red melons planted. But the one behind our trailer were yellow meat, my favorite. And we had permission to devour as many as we could. I had one in the refrigerator for every day. I could devour one-third of the very largest size myself. And the watermelon had never tasted so good. To this day, 25 years later, watermelon has still never tasted as sweet to me as those yellow meat melons were. And I still love watermelon.
With my second son, I wanted an ice cream every evening. I experienced heart burn with him. It seemed to calm my heartburn down. And, of course, as an extra added bonus made me gain weight faster. Wow, what a deal! According to an old wives’ tale, heart burn indicates your child will have hair on his head at birth. I am not a believer in old tales, but it was true. My first was bald. But the second son had a head full of hair. Those old ladies must have known something when they came up with that old tale! Now all I needed was a good tale to help me produce a girl. No way. I have 2 sons and 3 grandsons to date. And I imagine, that when the time comes, I will have all great grandsons too!
