Kids Recipe for Chocolate Spoons

published by Darlene McFarlane on Oct 21, 2009

This is a fun and easy recipe that kids will enjoy.

Here’s an easy recipe that the kids will have fun with and everyone will enjoy.  Chocolate spoons can be served in coffee or hot milk.  They can be served to company, enjoyed at home, and make great Christmas gifts.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups of white or traditional brown chocolate chips
  • 45-50 plastic teaspoons
  • 3 small cookie sheets or a large area of table top
  • enough waxed paper to line the cookie sheets or cover table
  • 1 glass measuring cup

Method

  1. Line cookie sheets or cover table with waxed paper.
  2. Put half of the chocolate chips in the measuring cup and microwave at 50% power stirring often until chips are completely melted being careful not to overcook.
  3. Dip spoon one at a time into the melted chocolate being sure to completely cover the bowl of the spoon.
  4. Place each spoon on waxed paper to cool.
  5. When chocolate is used up, microwave the second cup and continue to coat the spoons until all of the melted chocolate is used up.

cutedrishti8, I will be interested to know your daughter’s take on this. Even though I think it’s a great idea for kids I don’t know any who have tried it yet.

Amanda, I agree. While writing the recipe, I had dark, cold, winter nights in mind. I think the spoons would be best double coated for milk, don’t you?

I can’t think of a little kid who wouldn’t love this- you could use caramel chips, white chocolate. Imagine how much fun it would be to eat your cereal with this…
