Makkana Kheer

As a substitute, you can also use dry roast melon seeds instead of lotus seeds.

It is a sweet desert from Indian kitchen.

Ingredients

Dry, puffed up lotus seeds (makkana) – ½ cup

Milk – 1 litre

Ghee or butter – 2 tsp

Sugar – ¾ cup

Cardamom powder – a pinch

Ice-cream essence – a few drops

 

Method

Add two cup of water in milk and boil it. Fry makkana in ghee or butter for 2 minutes in low flame. Grind it to a smooth paste by adding little milk to it. Add this makkana paste to milk, then add sugar and cook for few minutes on low flame. Remove from fire. Add cardamom powder, essence and refrigerate it. Serve ice cold in tall glasses.
