Moon Wood -Moon Rock

A romantic recipe. One might get moon struck but not a moon stroke.

Ingredients

  • Slightly thickened milk – 3 cups
  • Rice powder – 3/4 cup
  • Grated coconut fresh or dry – ½ cup
  •  Palm jaggery or sugar
  • Flavoring – cardamom or nutmeg or both

Method

  1. Boil milk in a pan, thicken it slightly.
  2. Sprinkle rice powder stirring it all the while.
  3. Put in the grated coconut ,keep whisking.
  4. Add palm jaggery until light the whole thing looks light brown or add sugar instead.
  5. Sprinkle powdered nutmeg, cardamom.
  6. Make the consistency thick enough to be cut [thick paste].
  7. Coat a tray with oil and flop the whole thing on it.
  8. Spread it evenly, flatten with a wet muslin, let it cool’ then cut it with a knife dipped in water  to squares or rectangles

It is Moon Wood when made with jaggery. Since this palm jaggery is not easily available it is made with sugar. In this case I christen it as Moon Rock.
