Morning Gathering Hot Fruit Dessert

published by Chris Stonecipher on Oct 23, 2009

This delicious morning Hot Fruit Dessert is loaded with various fruit such as peaches, pineapples, pears and cherries with a vanilla wafer crust topping. If you have a nut allergy, the dessert works just fine without the crush almonds. This Hot Fruit Dessert is great in the morning sitting around with friends sipping and fresh hot coffee or tea.

Ingredients:

One 29 ounce can of sliced peaches

One 1 lb. can of pear halves

One 1 lb. apricot halves

One 15 ¼ ounce can pineapple chunks

One small bottle maraschino cherries

½ tsp. almond flavoring

¼ cup slivered almonds

2 dozen crushed vanilla wafers

½ cup of water

½ stick of butter

Description:

Butter a 9×13 inch glass baking dish. Drain and mix fruit. Sprinkle with almond flavoring, add almonds and mix again. Put into baking dish. Sprinkle wafers on the top.

Cook water, butter and brown sugar together until sugar dissolves and butter melts. Pour over fruit. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake uncovered at 350 degree F. for about 30 minutes. Uncover and bake about 10 minute longer and enjoy!!
