Seconds before he was shot to death on New Years, Philippine Councilman Reynaldo Dagsa snap a photo of his killer.

The photo was taken outside of the Councilman’s home in Manila as people celebrated the beginning of the New Year nearby.

In the photo, the killer is wearing a baseball cap turn backwards and is clearly seen taking aim as the Councilman’s family unwittingly poses for the pictures.

The Councilman was shot seconds later. The family said that they did not hear the gun shot because of the loud fireworks and was only aware that something was wrong after Councilman Dagsa fall to the ground.

Councilman Dagsa was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The police were given the photo by the Dagsa family, which also ran on the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s front page.

Shortly after the gunman, a car thief who was out on bail was re-arrested. According to Caloocan City police Chief Jude Santos the shooting was probably revenge for Councilman Dagsa ordering the gunman’s arrest last year.
