Oh The Joy of Icecream!

Everybody LOVES icecream, am I right? But when and where exactly did this wonderful family treat come from?

Icecream is America’s all time classic treat, from young to old, rich to poor. But a lot of people can ask, “Where did icecream come from?”

It actually was sought out to be a rich persons delight even way back to the colonial times. Since ice was so hard to come by, and freezing the ice wasn’t such an easy task. People did pay big to have ice cream. And all they had back then was, guess what? Vanilla. No chocolate, not 31 flavors like Baskin Robins has, just Vanilla.

But then, it all changed when people started making inventions, like an automatic processor, which froze the icecream while it was still being processed. And what was even better, was that people at home could buy their own refrigerator! But even then, getting icecream was a lot of money, and time consuming.

People actually also started rioting to have icecream. Americans would do anything to get their hands on it.

They had also a long time later invented the Cone, in order to solve the ‘dripping’ issue, and to have the fun idea of eating your own icecream holder. It actually started at the World Fair, when an icecream man ran out of bowls to put his fresh icecream into. In the next stall, a man selling waffles decided an option, “Hey! Why don’t you make an icecream holder out of waffles?” The idea was odd, but the man had no other choice. And so, the icecream cone was produced.

People started working in the streets to get selling icecream. But they would use fake stuff in order to make a profit. Soon however, people looked right ahead of the scam, and tried to find another way to get the treat.

Over the years that had past, people started making more inventions, and more flavors. Such people like Ben and Jerry went through trial and error making every single flavor possible, and they are still at it today.

Baskin Robins has 31 flavors, the most delicious flavors I should add. From chocolate, to Peanut Butter, to Vanilla (of course), and sometimes even after candy! Like Reese’s.

And now in todays world, there are countless of topings to choose from. Gummy bears, chocolate prinkles, snickers bits.

So just think, when you are enjoying that favorite icecream flavor of yours in a nice waffle cone, or a dish, thank those icecream patriots who thought that all of America deserved icecream. And thank all of those inventors for the things that make icecream, and their flavors.
