Chinese Banquet Doughnuts
How to make Chinese banquet doughnuts the easy way using fried refrigerator biscuits coated in a sifted sugar/cinnamon dusting.

Here is a novel use of refrigerated biscuits. We are going to turn them into Chinese banquet doughnuts by frying them and dusting with sifted sugar. A little cinnamon could be added to the dusting if so desired.
Ingredients
- Refrigerated Biscuits
- ¼ Cup of Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
- Oil (for deep frying)

Rather than baking our refrigerator biscuits in the normal way (see Fig.2) we are going to turn them into Chinese banquet doughnuts.
Method
- Preheat oil to 350 degrees F. Use a medium deep saucepan if you don’t have a fryer to hand.
- Sift sugar and put it into a zip lock plastic bag. If you are going to add cinnamon, do so now and then resift the sugar/cinnamon mix. Return the now combined cinnamon sugar mix to the zip lock bag and set to one side ready for later use.
- Now fry the refrigerator biscuits 2 at a time. Turn once if necessary and cook until they have turned a lovely golden brown on both sides (all over).
- Once cooked transfer your biscuit doughnuts to paper towels to drain. Once drained, transfer the biscuit doughnuts onto a rack to cool down.
- Continue cooking (frying) as many biscuits as required
- Once the biscuit doughnuts have cooled down somewhat put them one at a time into your sugar, sugar/cinnamon mix loaded zip lock bag and seal the bag before giving them a bit of a shake. Take your now sugar coated biscuit doughnut out of the zip lock bag and place onto a serving plate ready to serve.
Serving
Biscuit doughnuts can be served as is with just a coating of sifted sugar or sifted sugar/cinnamon mix.
You might also consider serving them with a teaspoon of jam (seedless raspberry conserve works really well).
They can also be served with hot apricot sauce and ice cream as a really special Chinese dessert.
However you go do enjoy!
