A recipe on how to make apple and nut pastries.

This recipe makes a total of 4 apple and nut pastries.

Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets of rolled puff pastry
  • 50 grams of butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoons ground mixed spices
  • 1 Granny Smith Apple (cooking apple)
  • 4 macadamia, cashews, almonds or pistachio nuts

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius
  2. Line a baking tray with baking paper
  3. Cut the pastry into 4 rectangles and place on the baking tray, not touching each other
  4. Mix the butter, sugar and spice
  5. Brush the mixture into the middle third of each pastry
  6. Peel the apple and cut it into wedges. Cut the apple into thins slices and lay on top of the mixture.
  7. On the outer thirds of the pastry, slice them to form a “plait” effect when pulling up on top of the mixture and apple
  8. Brush any remaining mixture on top of the pastries. Sprinkle the nuts on top.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes in the oven or until golden brown
