A warm, gooey cinnamon bun is the ultimate indulgence. Want to make it even more decadent?

Those rich and gooey cinnamon buns you get at the mall or pull out of the oven all warm and sticky are not going to be on anyone’s list of health foods. With upwards of five hundred calories in many of these rolls they’re definitely designed for a day of indulgence. If you’ve decided to take the splurge and devour one of these sweet treats, why not take some extra steps to make them even sweeter? Here’s how to jazz up those gooey cinnamon buns:

Add Some Syrup

Place your cinnamon bun in the oven or microwave with a pat of butter on top. Microwave for forty seconds to melt the butter and warm the bun. Heat up hot maple syrup on the stove and pour it over your cinnamon bun. Sprinkle with walnuts. It’s a decadent dessert you’ll remember for a long time.

Add Some Chocolate

Warm up the cinnamon bun in the microwave and squeeze on some Hershey’s chocolate syrup. You can use sugar free chocolate syrup if it makes you feel less guilty. Top with whipped cream for a creamy cinnamon chocolate sensation.

Serve With Vanilla Ice Cream

Gooey cinnamon buns taste delicious served with a scoop of high quality vanilla ice cream. You can sprinkle the vanilla ice cream with a touch of cinnamon to add to the cinnamon theme. Don’t forget to eat a salad the day after this splurge.

Serve With Strawberries

Cinnamon buns taste delicious served on a bed of fresh strawberries. Add a little sweetened strawberry water to moisten the dessert. You’ll feel less guilty when you remember all the antioxidants and vitamins you’re getting from the strawberries.

Dip in Coffee

Gooey cinnamon buns are the perfect accompaniment for freshly brewed coffee. Try dipping the buns into coffee and enjoy the unique melding of flavors. This is a nice morning indulgence.

If you make your own cinnamon buns at home, you can experiment by altering the standard recipe to include such things as adding dried fruit other than raisins, adding a variety of nuts, and adding spices. Some spices to try would be cardamom, ginger, or nutmeg. You can also add small chunks of apple to your standard recipe for gooey cinnamon buns. Apples and cinnamons are always a tasty combination. You can also vary the glaze or icing you’re using to top your gooey cinnamon buns. How about trying a caramel icing instead of the standard white icing?

There are a variety of ways to enjoy a delicious cinnamon bun. Don’t settle for just one.
