Simple recipes such as this peanut butter honey balls recipe are a great way to introduce the kids to cooking. They also happen to be downright delightful to eat at any time of the day or night.

This recipe for peanut butter honey balls is so simple that even the kids can make them. Although this peanut butter honey balls recipe can use a food processor or blender for speedy combination of ingredients; the peanut butter honey balls will still turn out just as enticing when formed by hand.

It is strongly recommended that the young ones be supervised whenever they are using kitchen appliances such as blenders, food processors, knives and heat sources (the oven, hot plates, frying pans etc.).

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup each of Rolled Oats, Coconut and Chopped Nuts
  • ¾ Cup of Peanut Butter
  • ¾ Cup of Honey
  • ½ Cup each of Coconut and Chopped Nuts (for coating the balls)
  • 2 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

Method

  1. Preparing The Peanut Butter – Nuke the peanut butter for about 1 minute to make it easier to stir
  2. Peanut Butter Honey Dough – Add the honey, vanilla extract and cocoa powder to the peanut butter. Mix thoroughly (a blender or food processor is quickest). Now add in 1 cup of rolled oats, coconut and chopped nuts and stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined (all ingredients should be evenly dispersed throughout the peanut butter honey balls mixture).
  3. Prepare Coating Mix – Select a small bowl or soup bowl and add the ½ cup of coconut. Then select another bowl and add the ½ cup of chopped nuts to it. You might also like to combine the coconut and chopped nuts in order to coat your peanut butter honey balls with both coconut and chopped nuts simultaneously. In which case add both coconut and chopped nuts into the same coating bowl and mix thoroughly.
  4. Shaping Peanut Butter Honey Balls – We are now going to form the dough into balls of roughly equal size. The easiest way of doing this is to use a 1 inch (2.24 cm) scooper as it ensures that our peanut honey balls will turn out pretty much the same size. It also makes the task of rolling each ball considerably easier, faster and error free. So let’s to it:
  • First up scoop out some of the peanut butter honey balls dough
  • Then remove the dough from the scoop and hold in the open palm of one hand
  • Applying a circular motion use the open palm of your other hand to gently roll the dough into spherical balls
  1. Coating – Once satisfied with the shaping of your peanut butter honey balls transfer them one at a time to the bowls of coating and roll them around in the mix to ensure that they are well and truly coated.
  2. Refrigerate – Continue until all of the peanut butter honey mix has been used. After coating the last peanut butter honey ball transfer all of the peanut butter honey balls to the refrigerator to chill.

Serving

These peanut butter honey balls can be consumed immediately or chilled in readiness for serving at a later date.
