Pears Gingerbread Upside Down Cake

This is a delicious moist dessert. The pears and the ginger flavour make a nice combination.

Pears Gingerbread Upside Down Cake

  • 1 can pears , drained
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  1. In a tube pan, pour the melted butter evenly on the bottom.
  2. Add the 1/2 cup of brown sugar , evenly
  3. Then place pear halves all around the bottom of the pan.
  4. Then mix the batter
  5. Mix the brown sugar, butter and eggs, beat well.
  6. Add the molasses.
  7. Sift the flour & spices & soda & salt together.
  8. Lastly blend in the boiling water.
  9. Pour evenly in the pan over the pears.
  10. Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Can be served with whipped cream and a cherry on top.
