Apple Pie: Whipped or Ice Cream! Three
Readings.
For the FILLING you will need:
- 1/3 cup of white sugar
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 3 tbsp of flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 6-8 apples
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Peel and slice the apples into small cubes or pieces of desired shape. Place them in a bowl, add the sugars, salt, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon. Place it in the refrigerator and pull out the other 1/2 or the dough. Roll it out the same way as the other 1/2, and cut it into 1 inch strips. Take the dough that is already in the pan and the filling from the refrigerator. Pour the filling into the shell, spread it evenly with a spoon and brush the edges of the pie shell with a beaten egg. Put the 1 inch strips in a criss-cross pattern over the filling and cut off the excess dough. Press around the edges and brush it with beaten egg and milk.
Bake for 15 minutes at 400ºF and then turn the oven temperature down to 375ºF and bake for 45 minutes.
