Just Like Mom’s Homemade Apple Pie
An easy, less time consuming recipe that is very delicious and tastes like homemade!
2-Pillsbury’s roll out ready-made pie crusts
2-cans apple pie filling-the ones with no gelatin will do as well or better
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 largely chopped pecans
Cinnamon, sugar, butter dots, egg wash
Roll one crust to fit bottom of pie tin, or glass pie pan for a deep dish pie. Pour 1 can of apple filling in. Dot with a few pats of real butter, sprinkle with a little sugar, a little cinnamon, 1/4 cup of raisins, and 1/4 cup of pecans. Add second can following the same order of butter, cinnamon, sugar, nuts and raisins.
Put second crust over top of apple mixture and flute edges, joining top crust with bottom crust.
Make an egg wash with 1 egg yolk and 3 tablespoons of water. Brush this on top of pie. Cut a hole in center for venting and you can also make 4 vents around the pie-to make it look like the kinds done in the fairy tale books, like Alice In Wonderland etc.
Lightly sprinkle with sugar only. Cover edges with pie edge shield or make your own out of aluminum foil.
Bake for at least one hour in 350 degree oven and until slightly golden brown and bubbly.
Serve warm or cool with slices of fresh cheese or ice cream, or just by its delicious self! Enjoy!

Another great sounding recipe. I have never been able to make a pie crust but this looks like something even I could do. Thanks for sharing.

Jane, this is so easy. I used to labor with scratch pie crust recipes and had become quite good at making them, but in this category I will say that you can lose the touch if you don’t keep doing it. The Pillsbury pie crusts are delicious and in my opinion, best tasting on the day of baking. I hope you will try this because of its ease and the taste is really good.
Thank you so much for coming to see this recipe, I appreciate you!

Hi lillyrose!
My mother has made the real thing for years and not a one of us could top it either-there was just this special something to the texture of her made-from-scratch crust. Takes you back doesn’t it love?
Thank you so much for coming by, I truly appreciate it!
