Do you want to make a pie that is traditional but just a bit different? You will like this. It is like an apple pie oatmeal cookie.

1/2 cup flour

1 1/2 cups uncooked oatmeal

1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup butter flavored shortening

3 cups sliced raw apples

Combine dry ingredients.  Add melted shortening and mix thoroughly.  Reserve 1 cup of mixture.  Press remaining mixture into a 9 inch pie pan.  Be sure to press mixture up the sides as well to form a pie crust.  Arrange apple slices on top of crust.  Top with remaining crumb mixture.  Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown.  Pie may be served hot or cold.  Serve topped with ice cream, if desired.
