A delicious but unusual treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped
  • 1 (6 0z.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels

Method

Combine cake mix, margarine and 1/3 cup milk in large bowl; mix well. Press half the cake mixture into a 13×9x2-inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Sprinkle pecans and chocolate chips over crust. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup milk in microwave. Spread caramel mixture over pecans and chocolate chips. Top with remaining cake mix mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool completely before cutting.
