Waffles from Scratch
This is a delicious recipe that has been in my family for generations. I’m sure there isn’t a lot of variation in waffle recipes but this is better than buying a mix.
Wet Ingredients
1 ½ C Milk
½ C oil
Dry Ingredients
–Sift together
1 ¾ C Flour
1 t Salt
2 ½ t Baking Powder
Directions
Add dry ingredients to wet.
Separate 2 Eggs; Whites in one bowel, Yolks in another.
Beat the Yolks and add them to the other ingredients.
After beating thoroughly, fold the fluffy whites into the other ingredients.
Cooking Directions
Bake in greased waffle iron.
Serving suggestions
Best served with home made Berry Compote, home made vanilla syrup, or homemade whip cream. Always best with real butter.

I made these this morning and they taste great but the batter was a bit too liquidy–I like firmer/fluffier waffles. I will probably play with adding more flour/egg whites next time I do this. I also took Linda’s suggestion of sugar
Thank you for the recipe!

This is a great recipe. As Linda did, I added a bit of sugar. And like Jessica I like them a little fluffier. I used 2 cups of flour instead of 1 1/2 and added a bit of vanilla as well.
Yeah, ok….this isn’t exactly the same as yours but your basic recipe was great to work with.
Thank you!!!!

Made these this morning…GREAT recipe. I really beat the egg whites to an almost stiff meringue (but with no sugar), then folded this into the mixture and let sit for a a few minutes. Really really enjoyed them and will be making them again soon!

I added 1/8 sugar, upped the flour to 2 cups, and let the batter sit for a while…made fantastic waffles. The kids could have gone through another entire batch.
