Cherry Wine

The cherry wine is quiet sweet to the pallet. Depending on where the cherries have been harvested from or the type of soil their grown in: cherries produce different flavors of sweetness.

Cherry Wine is best with a not too overpowering desert – Macaroni custard pudding I think is a real must on a cold winters night sitting in front of an open fireplace, sipping and enjoying the fruits of your hard labor.

Ingredients

Note:  Ingredients are in imperial measures only.

  • 5 lbs. Black Cherries
  • 5 pts. Water
  • 1 oz. Bakers Yeast
  • 4 lbs. White Sugar

Method

Place the cherries in a muslin bag and cover with boiling water.  Squeeze daily for three weeks.  Strain and add sugar to liquid.  Sprinkle yeast on top.  Stand for three weeks.  Strain and bottle into sterilized bottles.

Sterilizing your bottles can be done in the microwave.

Enjoy
