Burping and How to Stop Doing It as Much Naturally

published by pattiann on Apr 20, 2012

Some people have a problem with their burping, always doing it after meals, and then you have people like me who can’t burp without drinking down a big glass of some sort of carbonated drink. If you are one of those who burp a lot, this article is for you.

You can belch from eating too much, or swallowing air when you eat or drink. When you have anxiety you can also burp because you might find yourself swallowing a lot and taking in air. Or it might be a problem with the way you breathe. When you breathe in you can take in air into your esphogus and it comes out in a burp. It is also possible to burp agter drinking a carbonated drink.

Here are some natural ways to get ease of burping.

Drink a cup of peppermint tea right after meals. Theresa MacLean R Ph. ND a naturopathic doctor and pharmacist based in Berwick Nova Scotia says it is a good tea for burping and it calms the study. It is also considered a gnetle carminative which means it helps get rid of all that gas that is causing you to burp. When you buy prepared peppermint tea, make sure it has real peppermint in it, not just flavoring. Check on package if you are not sure. It can also be made with fresh peppermint leaves. Take 1 cup boiling  with a Tablespoon of peppermint leaves that are fresh and clean. Drink it in sips slowly so you don’t swallow air.

Peppermint is also found in enteric coated capsules. You should find a capsule  with 0.4 milliliters of essential oil for each capsule. Take this 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals

Papaya is another thing you can use for your burping. To use this, buy papaya enzymes and either use two of the enzymes after a meal or if different on package directions follow package directions. Yvonne Tyson who is a doctor in Long Beach, California and a member of the American Holistic Health Association says that when your body doesn’t digest a food well the enzymes helps it digest better and you won’t get as many burps after you eat.

These enzymes come in rolls like lifesavers or bottles. They are available in two formulations as either extra strength or regular. Check the directions which according to your symptoms will tell you which one you need.

You can also use ginger tea and drink a cup after meals. To make the tea, ground 1 teaspoon fresh ginger root, pour 1 cup boiling water over it. Let it steep for five minutes then strain and sip it slowly so you don’t swallow air.

Pretend its after dinner and you are doing a lot of burping and you just read this and don’t happen to have fresh ginger root in your kitchen, You are in luck if you have dried, ground powdered ginger. For each cup of boiling water, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of the ground ginger. Steep five minutes and let cool before you drink it.
