Classic Christmas Drinks
List of favorite all time Christmas Drinks.
Christmas only comes once a year, and everyone young and old anticipates the holiday season whether it be for the joy, family time, or simply for the festivities…including classic holiday drinks. These holiday drinks change every year, they get more extravagant, etc. they even have candy cane shot glasses available now but some things stay the same. This is a list of all my favorite holiday drinks new and old!
1. Super Rum and Egg Nog
Exactly what it says, a super rum and egg nog drink! Found this recipe from a friend recently while attending their Christmas party and It’s the best alcoholic egg nog drink I’ve ever tasted!
Try it out – this is what you’ll need
1-oz of spiced Rum (Captain Morgan works best here)
1-oz of Irish Cream (baileys can also be used here in a less amount)
6-oz of Egg nog
1-0z of Chocolate Milk
Whipped Cream and chocolate syrup
Next add ice to your glass, then pour in the rum and irish cream (amounts of irish cream can vary depending on your taste). Add egg nog and stir well. Pour in the chocolate milk and let it swirl in the glass however be careful not to stir. Additionally, it can be topped with chocolate syrup, maple syrup, whip cream or whatever you desire.
2. Egg Punch with Red Wine (German Christmas Drink)
Ingredients (serves 2-3 persons)
1 bottle of red wine (750 ml)
4 eggs (or 8 egg yolks)
5 tablespoons of sugar
one packet of vanilla sugar and some cinnamon
Whisk the sugar into the eggs (or egg yolks) and add a little cold red wine, and then beat vigorously. Add the vanilla sugar. Add the rest of the red wine and heat with some cinnamon. * This is very important, just before it comes to a boil, remove the pot from the heat. Strain and let cool a bit after which it can be served still hot and foamy. This can also be made with white wine however must add around 250ml of strong tea.
I found this drink recently online and it’s VERY good. However I did not use the cloves and lemon juice as they suggested in the original recipe found here (http://german.about.com/library/blrezept_eggpunch.htm). However, try it out for yourself see what you like better!
These two are my favorite Christmas drinks, from different cultures old and new! I hope you will enjoy them as I have and they’ll be a hit at your party for generations to come!
