How to Make a Great Margarita

published by Golden Light on Nov 4, 2008

The margarita is a popular tequila based drink. Using a margarita mix however, will drastically alter the taste of the tequila for the worse. Each bartender has their own secret for making a margarita. Here is an easy, inexpensive way to make a great tasting margarita at home that will taste like you ordered it at an upscale cocktail lounge.

  • Ice
  • A glass (able to hold at least 3 oz.)
  • Tequila (any brand will do)
  • Triple Sec (found at any liquor store in the cordial section)
  • Lime juice (fresh lime juice is best)
  • Orange Juice
  • Pineapple Juice

Step 1. Fill your glass full of ice

Step 2. Pour in 1 oz. or 3 counts of tequila, ½ oz. of triple sec and ½ oz. of

            lime juice.

Step 3. Add a splash of orange juice and a splash of pineapple juice.

Step 4. Shake or stir until completely mixed

Step 5. Salt the rim of another glass.  Do this by running a lime wedge along

the rim of your glass.  Pour salt on a plate and dip the rim into the salt.

The salt should stick only to the rim.

Step 6. Pour the content of your drink from the mixing glass into the salt

            rimed glass.

Step 7. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve
