A celebrity chef shares her recipe for making the Mimosa cocktail with some history on where it was invented.

Mimosa Cocktail was originally named Buck’s Fizz. The Mimosa takes its’ name because it’s color resembles the color of the mimosa flower.

Prepared with orange juice and champagne. This drink was invented in 1921 by a Mr.McGarry, a bartender who worked at Buck’s Club.

Ingredients are 4/10 fresh orange juice and 6/10 Champagne or Prosecco. Juice the oranges and filter the juice. Add in ice, then cold Prosecco or Champagne and mix for few seconds and serve.

In 1925 in France, at the Hotel Ritz of Paris, someone prepared a cocktail similar to Buck’s Fizz but they garnished with a cherry, and this was renamed the Mimosa. And when it is made with Grand Marnier it is called a Grand Mimosa.
