Ginger Tea for Cold

published by avissado on Jul 24, 2012

Most people from India are familiar with this home remedy for common cold -Ginger Tea.There are different ways of making this brew which is really quite effective in treating cold, although I am not fully aware of the medicinal properties of ginger.

How to make Ginger tea

Brew a cup of black tea. You can either use a tea bag and pour over boiling water  or you can make it by boiling water and adding tea leaves to it. If you are using the tea bag method then the longer you dip the stronger will be your tea. While if you are making tea by boiling tea leaves in water, then the longer you boil the tea leaves in the water the stronger your brew.

Generally, what I do is: boil kettle with water, pour boiling water into tea cup(big mug in my case) and dip tea bag in it a couple or more times. When it reaches the desired strength in terms of colour and aroma, discard tea bag, add sweetener. This is the way I make my favorite cuppa tea! Sometimes I may add a bit of milk, sometimes I don’t. Cream is for celebratory occasions only!

Ginger tea is really quite simple to make, cut a few slices of fresh ginger  and add one or two to your prepared cup of tea.  Only make sure the tea is boiling hot when you put in the ginger. Leave the slices of ginger in your tea for a few minutes. Remove slices of ginger and enjoy your cup of ginger tea remedy for cold.
