Homemade Dandelion Wine
Once you have tried this tasty wine, you will never look at those pesky little weeds in the same light again.

Take care to pick chemical and herbicide free fully developed blossoms (no stems). Fill a brown paper grocery bag about half full. Rinse tops gently with cool tap water
Ingredients
- 6- 1qt. clean canning jars with lids
- cheese cloth or new clean panty hose
- 2 large pots
- 6 cups white cane sugar
- 1 package dry yeast
Method
- In large pan, stir to dissolve 6 cups sugar in 6 quarts of water. Add flower blossoms. Bring to a boil and then boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
- Strain liquid into large pan or crock using cheese cloth or panty hose to catch flower blossoms. Discard flowers.
- Stir dissolved yeast into liquid in pan, cover with clean towel and let sit overnight.
- In the morning, stir mixture, then pour into canning jars and seal. Store in cool dark place for at least 1 month. Like any other wine, it gets better with age!

My mom & dad tried making this back in the early 1990s… they did a large floor-sitting crock-pot of it and it bubbled & gurgled for about a year! They finally lost their nerve to try it and dumped the whole thing. It was funny.
Their elderberry wine turned out excellent though…
