How to Make Chocolate Pudding
Chocolate pudding, everyone loves chocolate pudding, especially my wife and kids. Whenever I make chocolate pudding for them it always gets eaten at once, none of it gets left for later. It is so simple to make too, as long as you have a good whisking arm.
0.25 cup of sugar
0.25 cup of cocoa powder
2 Tablespoon of cornflour (cornstarch)
A pinch of salt
2 cups of whole milk
1 egg (large)
4 ounces of chocolate chips (optional)
1. Put the cocoa powder, sugar, cornflour and salt into a good sized saucepan and mix together.
2. Whisk in the milk very gradually. Once all the milk is whisked in, turn on the gas and bring to the boil whisking continuously. It is very important to keep whisking, don’t stop. Simmer the mixture, while whisking, until it thickens, about 3 to 5 minutes should do it, then remove from the heat.
3. Beat the egg lightly in a heat proof bowl, or another pan. Very gradually pour in the hot chocolate pudding mixture while whisking continuously. If you have them, pour in the chocolate chips and whisk until they are all melted. The mixture should be very smooth at this point.
4. Pour the finished chocolate pudding into individual bowls, I use ramekins but any suitable container will do, and chill in the fridge for a couple of hours. I place disks of greaseproof paper on top of the puddings to prevent a skin forming, you could also us cling film
