Make Refreshing Homemade Lemonade
published by Greyian Storm on Aug 4, 2009
A recipe for making your own homemade lemonade.
This recipe makes 1.5litres of homemade lemonade.
Ingredients
- 4-5 medium sized lemons.
- 150-250g normal white sugar.
- 1 litres of water.
- Some boiling water.

Method
- Start by squeezing the lemons. Each lemon should give you 40-60 millilitres of juice.
- Sieve the juice into a jug, to avoid getting any pips or too much pulp in your juice.
- When you are done squeezing your lemons, you should have approximately 200-250 millilitres of lemon juice.
- Boil approximately 500 ml of water in a kettle.
- Add 150-250 grams of sugar to the lemon juice. I normally add about 225 grams, because I particularly enjoy sweet lemonade.
- Add approximately 300 ml of boiling water to your sugar and lemon mix. Stir the boiling water until all the sugar has dissolved. Add more boiling water to the mix if it isn’t dissolving properly.
- Fill the remainder of the jug (assuming you’re using a 1.5l jug) with ice cold water.
- Put your jug of lemonade in the fridge to cool. This will take about 30 minutes. If you want to drink some straight away, fill a glass with ice and add your lemonade.
- If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add some mint leaves to your homemade lemonade to give it a bit of a kick.
