Delicious and aromatic.
Mulled Wine
Time to start thinking about keeping those Christmas guests warm and happy. This recipe for mulled wine will do the trick and it fills the house with a lovely spicy aroma. The quantities her will serve about 6 but you will need to adjust proportionately depending on the number of guests or how much mulled wine you think your guests will want to drink!
Ingredients
1 bottle red wine
2 tbsp demerara sugar
1 orange studded with about 6 cloves
orange slices
lemon slices
1 cinnamon stick
grated nutmeg
2 tbsp of fruity liqueur like cherry brandy or Cointreau
Method
Pour the wine into a roomy pan on a very low heat and stir in the sugar until it dissolves.
Add the orange,cinnamon stick and grate in nutmeg to taste.
Heat through a little before adding some orange and lemon slices .
Finally add the liqueur.
Heat again but do not boil as you will boil off the alcohol.
Remove the orange and cinnamon stick and serve in heatproof glasses with some of the fruit slices.
