Non Alcoholic Drinks to Boost The Holiday Celebration

It’s the holiday season and folks will be celebrating with eating and drinking but, there are a lot of individuals that don’t drink alcohol. There is a need for nonalcoholic drink ideas that are easy to fix, refreshing and in the holiday theme, and here are five suggestions made and the recipes to follow.

Hot ‘happy’ Apple Cider

9 cups apple cider apple juice

¼ cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp whole cloves

6 inch cinnamon

8 thin orange wedges

8 whole cloves

Mix it up

In a large sauce pan add cider and sugar. In the center of a 6 inch square of double thick cheese cloth place the 1 tsp of cloves, orange peel and cinnamon, tie with a clean string. Place spiced sachet in pot with cider and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes In the mean while stud orange wedges with cloves. Remove cachet and discard. Serve garnish with orange wedges.

Apricot Apple holiday Sizzler

4 cups cider or apple juice

4 cups apricot nectar

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp honey                                                 

1 tsp whole cloves

1 tsp whole allspice

6 inch cinnamon stick, broken

2 cups ginger ale

Mix it up

Spice bag can be made ahead of time

Place whole cloves, allspice and cinnamon stick on a double thick cheese cloth and tie with a clean string

In a large sauce pan combine apple/cider juice, apricot nectar, lemon juice and spice bag. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Discard spice bag, sweeten with honey and add ginger ale.

 

Sparkling Cranberry Razor

In a punch bowl combine:

3 cups cranberry cocktail (juice)

3cups sparkling non alcoholic wine (peach)

2 cups ginger ale

1 can slice peach, drained

Drink Up

Stir thoroughly and add crushed ice and serve

Carrot Drink

This is a spicy holiday drink that brings out the holiday cheer

21/2 cups diced carrots

21/2 cups water

1 cup evaporated milk

8 tbsp granulated sugar

¼ nutmeg

Pinch of cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

Mix it up

Add carrots to water in blender

Blend for 30 second or until carrots are blended

Strain content and rinse blender

Pour strained carrot juice back into the blender and add remaining ingredients

Blend again and serve chilled

Café Vienna with a twist

This hot drink will send warmth soaring through your body.

½ cup instant coffee

½ cup cocoa powder

2/3 cup sugar

2/3 non fat milk

2/3 tsp cinnamon

A pinch of nutmeg

1 tsp dried orange peel

Make it

Stir together all ingredients

Combine in a blender until powdered

Make 1 ½ cups mix (8 servings)

Make 1 serving

2 tsp Cafe Vienna mix

1 cup hot water (not boiling)

Place Café Vienna in a cup and pour hot in, stir and garnish with whip cream

Serve 1
