Quality Recipes for Homemade Fruit Smoothies

With a basic formula, the possibilities for making any favorite fruit into a smoothie is limitless!

From Maris’s Kitchen:

The general rule about smoothies is: 1 cup of liquid OR ice for every cup of fruit you put in.

1-1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar for every cup of fruit, depending on taste.

Here are some tried and true home favorites from Maris’s Kitchen! (Grouped together so you can get a feel of the basics)

Pineapple-Orange Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 peeled oranges
  • 1 can pineapple chunks in 100% juice
  • 1-2 cups ice

Method

Place all ingredients in 5-cup or greater capacity blender and blend until mixture spins freely on its own.

Serves 4+

Strawberry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen* strawberries
  • 1 cup water*
  • 1 cup milk*(more water or orange juice can be used instead)
  • (for fresh strawberries, add 1/2 to 1 cup ice)
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar (sugar substitute like Splenda* also works)

Method

Place all ingredients in 5-cup or greater capacity blender and blend until mixture spins freely on its own.

Serves 4+

Triple Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries of your choice
  • 2 cups milk (water or orange juice can be used instead)
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar (sugar substitute like Splenda* also works)

Method

Place all ingredients in 5-cup or greater capacity blender and blend until mixture spins freely on its own.

Serves 4+

Tropical Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mixed fruit blend (such as pineapple, peach, strawberry, and raspberry or something similar)
  • 1 cup orange juice (water can also be used here)
  • 1 cup milk (orange juice can also be used here)
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar (sugar substitute like Splenda* also works)

Method

Place all ingredients in 5-cup or greater capacity blender and blend until mixture spins freely on its own.

Serves 4+
