Having spent over 25 years planning and executing special holiday events I have managed to come across a large variety of punch recipes.

What follows are recipes for my three favorite winter party punches; sangria, yuletide punch and mulled wine punch.

Note that each of the recipes can be increased depending on the number of party guests that you are expecting.

Sangria Punch

To make the sangria punch you will need to gather together the following ingredients;

  • 4 ounces dry red wine
  • ¾ ounces peach schnapps
  • 1 ½ ounces orange juice
  • 1 ½ ounces sweet and sour
  • ¾ ounces grenadine
  • ¾ ounces Rose’s lime juice
  • Limes
  • Lemons
  • Oranges

Take out a large punch bowl and add to it the wine, schnapps, orange juice, lime juice and the sweet and sour.  Next slice up the limes, lemons and oranges into thin slices and add the slices to the punch bowl.   Serve the sangria in either a wine glass or goblet over ice.

Yuletide Punch

To make the yuletide punch you will need to gather together the following ingredients;

  • 1 Quart water
  • 1 cup fine sugar
  • 1 Quart frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 1 Quart cranberry juice
  • 2 cups apple juice or cider
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 cups ginger ale

Take out a large, deep, heavy saucepan and add to it the water and fine sugar.   Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to boiling.   The boiling water should make the sugar dissolve.   Once the sugar is dissolved turn off the heat and remove the saucepan from the stove.   Let the sugar water cool and then pour it into a large punch bowl.   Add the cranberry, orange and apple juice to the mixture.   Stir until well blended and then add the ginger ale.   Stir the mixture again.   Add fresh fruit slices for a garnish if desired and serve over ice.

Hot Mulled Wine

To make the hot mulled wine punch you will need to gather together the following ingredients;

  • 36 ounces dry red wine
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 12 ounces cranberry juice
  • ¼ cup mulling spices

Take out a large, heavy saucepan and add all of the ingredients into it.   Place the saucepan onto the stove top and place it over a low flame.   Cover the saucepan with a lid.   Allow the ingredients to simmer for 30 minutes.  Afterward, remove it from the heat and serve in heat resistant mugs with a cinnamon stick garnish.
