A Whole Camel Treat: Stuffed with Lambs and Chickens
This camel treat is some thing we only listen about from our friends. Who visit Arabian world and come back so excited. They simply begin describing their experiences, as soon as they meet.
The best treat
There is a very tasty and joyful way to celebrate the picnic in sands and deserts in Arabian world. They go for a big camel party and make merry. Generally, the preparations for the same start-taking place some times before the party starts in the cool evenings as it take lots of time to make dish ready. Although there is one single dish and it is enough for 60-100 people.
The dish needs:
- One camel.
- One or two lambs and 20-30 chickens.
- 50-80 eggs, according to need.
- 10-12 kg of rice.
- 2kg black pepper
- 2kg almonds
- 2kg pine nuts
- Lots of water
- Wooden coal
- Salt, lots of that
Now the main thing starts, skin the camel, not easy for us but they employ those experts who can do that within a very fast time. Skin the lambs, again a soft job for those experts. Skin the chickens. Boil the skinned lambs and chickens until they get soft, not much.
Salt the chickens and lambs properly, now stuff the boiled eggs in to the chickens and paste the chickens with pepper and salt. Place some of those dry fruits in every chicken. Now stuff the lambs with these chickens and some more dry fruits along with cooked rice. Now all you need is to stuff the camel with these lambs the remaining rice and dry fruits, paste it with pepper and salt. Now sew the stomach of the camel.
Than the only thing left to do it to dig a big pit in the sand, easy and fill it with the wooden coal. Light up the fire and begin the roasting of the camel by rolling it all the time until brown and crispy. Not easy, it takes tens of people on both the ends of the pole with that, the camel tied with.
Once the dish is ready and kept in the center of the party, they can simply go all out and treat themselves.

I haven’t tasted a camel meat yet, because it’s very rare if not unavailable in my place. I would really try to take some bite of it if I had the opportunity.

How very . . . different from the American cuisine I grew up with. Thanks for the share. It’s interesting to learn how different cultures live and celebrate life.
