Batter Fried Chicken

This makes a nice crispy coating.

This chicken is delicious when fried golden brown.

Batter Fried Chicken

  • 1 two pound chicken cut up.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 celery stalk, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small onion, cut in half
  • 1 clove garlic, cut in half
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Fritter Batter

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  1. Place chicken in Dutch oven and add the water, celery, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cover and cook until tender, approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. While chicken is cooking, prepare fritter batter.
  4. When chicken is done remove from pan and drain, pat dry with paper towels.
  5. Cool slightly.
  6. Heat deep fryer to 350.
  7. Dip chicken in fritter batter to coat.
  8. Fry until pieces are golden.
  9. Place fried chicken pieces on cookie sheet lined with paper towels.
  10. Keep warm in a 200 oven until ready to serve.
