Bourbon Chicken Recipe
A recipe for the creation of bourbon chicken similar to Asian Chao’s bourbon chicken.
Serving size: 4
Ingredients
- Two pounds boneless chicken breasts
- 2 table spoons Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon crushed garlic clove
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
Preparation
1. Cut up the chicken into bite sized-pieces. Bite-sized pieces cook the best and absorb more flavor
2. Heat your olive oil in a large skillet. Then add the chicken. Cook the chicken until it is lightly browned or whatever your preference. If you cook the chicken too long, it will not absorb very much of your sauce, so make sure to take the chicken out of the skillet when you see it starting to brown.
3. After removing the chicken, you place all the other ingredients into the skillet. I usually use a pot for this step however, since my skillet is pretty shallow and I don’t want any spills.
4. Heat the ingredients on a medium setting and stir them all up. You want everything good and mixed.
5. Add your chicken to the mix and bring the sauce to a hard broil.
6. Reduce your heat and let the chicken simmer in the sauce for twenty minutes. Then you’re done!
