Chicken, Mushroom, and Havarti Burgers

The lean ground chicken in this recipe is kept moist during cooking with the addition of the fresh mushrooms. Topped with Havarti cheese, it is a healthy indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground chicken
  • 1 1/4 cups finely chopped fresh mushrooms
  • ½ cup minced sweet onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp dry Thyme
  • 1 tsp dry Oregano or Tarragon
  • 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 4 slices Havarti cheese
  • 4 Crusty buns
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Form mixture into 4 burger patties.
  3. Broil or BBQ burgers until juices run clear.
  4. Melt Havarti on burgers and serve on a crusty bun with tomato, mayonnaise and leaf lettuce.

    Even though I am not a BBQ cook, I might try these done outdoors. They sound really great!

    Dang, everyone is making me hungry. This sounds too good to be true. Is the crusty bun a brand or is it just dirty and old, like me? hehehe.
